Collection Overview The Coins: The set contains three authentic Buffalo Nickels representing each of the US Mints that produced them: Philadelphia Mint (no mint mark), Denver Mint ("D" mark), and San Francisco Mint ("S" mark). Production Era: Buffalo Nickels were designed by James Earl Fraser and minted between 1913 and 1938. Design Background: The obverse profile combines the facial features of three different Native American leaders (Iron Tail, Big Tree, and Two Moons), while the reverse features an American bison modeled after "Black Diamond" from the Central Park Zoo.
